Introducing our speakers
Gerard Loughlin is Professor of Christian Theology in the Department of Theology and Religion at Durham University. Co-chair of the Christian Systematic Theology Section of the American Academy of Religion, he is also a member of the Catholic Theological Association of Great Britain and the Society for the Study of Theology. He is the author of Alien Sex: The Body and Desire in Cinema and Theology (2004) and editor of Queer Theology: Rethinking the Western Body (2007). In addition he co-edits the journal, Theology & Sexuality, and is on the editorial board of the journal Literature and Theology.
Mark Dowd, an award-winning television presenter and producer is currently pursuing a qualification in Speech Therapy. He is a former Chair of Quest, a UK organisation for lesbian and gay Catholics. He has been preparing a film script on a ‘black comedy’ experience of a sexual relationship.
